Ride to the Wall
May 23 - 26, 2008
I missed it again. Every year I secretly plan to ride to Washington DC for Memorial Day weekend. This year I didn't talk about it, didn't mention it to anyone. I figured I would wait until the last minute so as not to jinx myself or my chances of attending. But it just wasn't meant to be (again) and I found myself overseas. On the bright side, I did catch a few news reports on the American Forces Network and caught some good footage of the bikes headed out of the Pentagon parking lot to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
I really, really want to attend Rolling Thunder - to be a part of something so much bigger than myself, to pay tribute to those who have served before me an have yet to make it home. And I will make it sooner or later. But until then, thank goodness there are folks like Beth Koraska who attended this year with other members of Rolling Thunder NC 1 and took some great pictures.
Thanks Beth!
Early morning rendezvous at VFW Post 670...
OK, so what do we do now?
So what do you think? Time to go?
Yea. Time to go.
Waiting on Whimpy...
Pink Mohawks are cool.
Doing some singing at the Veterans' Rest Home.
Whimpy again? He has got to be the most photographed dude in the chapter.
Looks like fun...
