Rolling Thunder NC Presidents' Meeting
February 27, 2010

Last February, all the Rolling Thunder chapters in North Carolina gathered here in Fayetteville for their annual Presidents' Meeting.  Well, apparently everyone who attended liked it, because it was decided to hold the 2010 meeting here again as well.

Once again, VFW Post 670 played host to the event.  Chapter 1 had a good turnout again with over 20 members coming out to hear what was being presented.  Folks waited patiently while the State Director had the chapter presidents in the back room for their closed door meetings.

Once those meetings were done, it was time for some lunch, and there was quite a spread there for everyone to enjoy.

Once everyone was fed, it was time to get down to business.  Jim Moyer from Florida made a presentation again this year concerning The Ride Home.  It sounds like it is going to be a spectacular event.

Grady had packets for those ex-POWs who couldn't make the trip last year for chapter presidents to deliver.

The most important part of Mo's presentation however was when he reminded us that today, right now, there are two American servicemen listed as missing - one from Operation Iraqi Freedom and one from Operation Enduring Freedom.

All the chapter presidents were given the opportunity to share with everyone what is going on in their chapters, explaining their projects, fundraising efforts and future goals.  It was a great chance to learn from each other, to pick up a few new ideas.

There was also time for a little fun and State Director Penn presented a few special awards.

And there were also some serious awards as well.  State Director Penn presented each chapter with a Certificate of Appreciation that highlighted the chapter's efforts in 2009.  Chapter 1 received recognition for "Support to Chapters and Outstanding Leadership."

John brought out the US Flag that Jim Hollister brought home from Afghanistan.  This flag was flown aboard a US aircraft on two combat missions on the 1st and 2nd of January, 2010 in honor of Rolling Thunder Chapter 1 NC.

The last order of business was to raise a new POW-MIA flag outside the post.  It was time for a new one, and this was the perfect day to put it out.  John and Fuzzy would do the honors...

Many thanks to everyone who came out today, especially all the folks who traveled to be here.  I think all would agree it was a very productive and informative day for all.  And finally, thanks again to Dale Chason for the pictures!
